Four students representing grades 4 and 5 at the Augustine F. Maloney School approached their principal, Everett Campbell, about the concept of collecting change for the people of Haiti. The students came prepared with ideas; a flyer and other suggestions on how to make a small difference in the lives of those who suffered from the earthquake in Haiti several weeks ago. The students, Lauren Bouvier (grade 5), Christopher Breault, Matthew Messier, Owen Pickering (all grade 4), called their fundraiser, “Change for Haiti”. Matthew brought in two large canisters he designed at home and placed one on each office counter. Just nine days later, the students had raised a total of $719. A check was mailed to the Worcester Office of the American Red Cross over the February vacation period. Please note the attached photograph.
